Latest Favourite Course Win Bias 2022

Favourite Win Bias By Course and Race Type

By The UK Horse Racing Tipster

This is an updated page with stats I have compiled from my own large database of racing history and I have posted them here to help you out with your betting.

I use them in my AUTOBOTS form reading which analyses lots of different scenarios and data to help come up with suggested tips and bets. These stats come from one of many reports I run nightly to help find edges on the bookies prices, and it is clear that certain courses have a better favourite bias than others.

By that, I mean that a favourite runner has a higher probability of winning or placing at certain courses than others.

This can be down to many reasons, such as a tricky course to ride, compared to an oval flat course with no hills or dip or the quality of racing that goes on at the course, e.g class 6 handicaps compared to GRADE 1 or GROUP 1 events.

Whatever the reason it is useful to know if you are trying to build your own systems or use mine, especially when picking favourites to LAY or BACK in the win markets on the Betfair betting EXCHANGE or just BACKING on a Sportsbook. The more stats you have, the better chance you have of beating the bookies as they will know this data as well and price horses accordingly.

You may have seen the old page which had the same info but from 2018. So this is an updated list that uses data from 2022's race season and there is quite a difference in courses with the best and worst win strike rates. You can visit the old page here: 2018 Favourite Win Bias By Course.

This new page is now broken down into National Hunt racing and Flat racing, for winning as well as placing as they each have their own statistics and you will find some courses where a favourite has a good chance of winning like Catterick which is 2nd with a strike rate of 52.46% for favourites on the jumps, but only mid table for placing with 65.57%.

Or if you look at Flat v Jumps, Naas is top for jumping with a 55.56% WIN Strike rate and 3rd for placing with 75.56% over sticks, but on the Flat it is mid-table with 36.26% to win, and 69.23% to place.

From these stats I know I will definitely be looking out for value favourites to either WIN at Killarney with a 52.08% win strike rate, and to place with an 81.25% place strike rate, just by concentrating on the courses with a higher than average win/place rate when they are value prices you should make money in the long run.

As you can see there can be quite a difference between a favourites success at different courses and between Flat and Jump racing, Bumpers have been ignored by this data.

For instance, Sandown has a 49.09% strike rate to win over the jumps compared to just 32.26% for the flat. Also, you can see on the flat that Down Royal has a 45.95% win rate for favourites, and to place a 78.38% strike rate, being at the top of both WIN and PLACE tables for the flat, however, over jumps it is mid-table with 36.17% to WIN but near the top of the PLACE table with 74.47%.

Remember the standard average for favourites to WIN is 33% and for odds-on favourites it is 50%. This table ignores price but we could dig down further and do odds-on and odds-against comparisons if we needed to.

These stats can help you build systems so that you only back favourites at a certain course that have a better chance of winning, or LAY favourites on the Betfair EXCHANGE from courses that have a low win rate and less chance of winning.

Using these stats along with the info in the latest post on form reading can really help you out with your betting ensuring you bet on horses with value, and who have a good statistical chance of winning or losing depending on your system.

Stats are key and I will probably put up some Jockey by Course stats so you can see which jockeys have the best strike rates over each course for both NH and FLAT and maybe the best jockeys for riding horses of different ages as all these stats together should help you build your own betting systems. Knowing when to place BACK bets on certain jockeys on favourites at certain courses or whether to LAY them for instance.

Breeders Cup 2021 - Winners

2021 Breeders Cup - Del Mar

By The UK Horse Racing Tipster

The flat season was ended off in good style in California, at Del Mar in 2021.

I am not usually able to watch the Breeders Cup but this year was different and I am glad it was shown on TV.

For me the big story of the Cup and also the flat season is how Charlie Appleby and William Buick as the Top Trainer (2021) and his top jockey have taken over with Goldophin's horses from Ballydoyle and AP O'Brien and Ryan Moore. It seems that the Irish have had a bad year and their horses didn't do well over in the US, just as they haven't done their usual smash and grab of English Group races this year.

William Buick won three mile+ events with Space Blues, Yibir and Modern Games, the controversial winner on the Friday night of the Juvenile race due to American bookies withdrawing him from the race due to a misunderstanding when Frankie Dettori's ride, Albahr, caused havoc in the stalls, and Buick's ride had to be let out the front gate.

The bookies thought he had broken through and disqualified him but the vet knew what had happened and allowed him to race and then win to the sound of boo's all around the stadium due to disappointed American punters who had been denied a winning bet as the 2nd placed horse was declared the winner by US Bookmakers. Luckily Charlie Appleby still got the prize money!

UK bookies however were more flexible and some paid out on both 1st and 2nd placed horses.

I had a 2 hour wait with Betfair to see if they would pay me for Modern Games but they finally coughed up as they should have. Why the US bookies were so inflexible I have no idea.

Here is my green slips from The Breeders Cup, I usually back the turf races with European Horses I know that are racing, but this year I did okay with some US horses on the dirt as well.

Those were the 3 Dubawi sired runners that W Buick won on in the US, Yibir was fantastic, so were the other 2 races. Whilst the Americans seem to aim to get out the stalls as fast as possible, get to the front then stay there in a feat of stamina, Buick did the standard stalk from the back and deliver late to pip on the line kind of racing I loved since Ryan Moore won the Derby in 2010 on Workforce.

However I love the speed of the American horses on the dirt, as the gate opens, it is all about who can get out quickest and then run those 5 furlongs as quick as possible. We saw some fast racing on the dirt and I even managed to get some US Green with it.

The whole weekends events at Del Mar were amazing and it was good for ITV to go all the way over seas and even show the main two races on the Saturday night on their main channel.

So we don't always bet in Europe, we win at UK Horse Racing Tipster in the US as well!

European Cup Finals

Oh The Wonders Of  Betting on European Football

By The UK Horse Racing Tipster

Well the EUROPA League Cup Final didn't go exactly like I wanted it to. Still with the betting tips placed on my facebook.com free tips site you would have made a chunk of cash still despite the Inter & Bayern double I had tipped not coming in.

As with most Same Game Accumulators I always do a side bet on the underdog, the team the bookies have put up as most likely to lose. If the SGA's I want don't come in then you can always plop a nice larger priced bet like this 6.34 Same Game Acca for Sevilla to win the EUROPA League Final.

Also I tipped an odds boost bet on Betfair where you can do these SGA's with ease for Romelu Lukaku and Lucas Ocampos to both have 2 or more shots on target at 10/1 up from 8/1. It came in and added to the Sevilla bet made it a good night despite not being the outcome I wanted.

A nice £100 return from a tenner cannot be scoffed at and as well as the Same Game Acca on Sevilla to win I came out on top despite losing the the WIN DOUBLES I had for Inter and Bayern to both win their cups

Of course we got the two earlier placed bets, tips I has put up before the Bayern Munich v Chelsea second leg, that proved to me that Bayern Munich were the best team in Europe this year.

Despite Bayern only winning 1 0 against PSG.in a not very exciting final I had tipped Bayern to reach the final, win the final and a forecast for Bayern to win and PSG to come 2nd.

See the green below.

So the Same Game Acca's didn't pay off in the finals, mainly because they were as boring to watch as many finals of International Competitions have been over the years. However the singles came in which made up for it thankfully.

There was nothing more surprising for myself personally, after literally falling asleep during the EUROPA Final, then waking to see Sevilla win and opening Betfair to see an extra few hundred quid in the bank rather than the dent in the wallet I expected. It always pays to do a side bet on the underdog.

When I think back over the years apart from a few games I cannot actually think off the top of my head of a really exciting high goal scoring World Cup or European Cup final.

There is nothing as sad as watching a World Cup final being won by a missed penalty - cough - Italy losing to Brazil in 1994. After a boring game that ended 0-0 after extra time, the cup was won again by Brazil due to the then Italian star player, Roberto Baggio, missing his penalty, shooting it high over the bar. A pretty sad way for Brazil to win yet another World Cup.

Plenty of finals seem to be played so much more cagey and safe compared to previous games and the list of 1-0 wins across major tournament finals must be quite a few. This has been noted and logged for next season, along with the teams that seem to never get over 4 corners a match.

The qualifying matches for the European Cup have already started so these world class players won't be getting much of a rest this summer. Which is why we all love European football so much!

The UEFA Nation League cup games are starting and soon hopefully a normal season, which means unlike the professional tipsters who have done appallingly this Flat Season, that we can make some more decent money on the football from my tips.

Forget the nags for this season I have made more money from LAYING all the tips I get in from Emails and Texts claiming the races are fixed, or big money gambles are on, plus all the short priced favourites these professional tipsters pass on as "Quality Bets" to me each day. I reckon a 90-95% strike rate (honestly), would have been attained by LAYING every professional tipsters tip passed onto me this season.

Let's hope for another exciting build up to the European finals this season, and for some reason I really don't think Liverpool are going to match their winning season again, Man City will probably win it, especially if as rumored Lionel Messi joins them!

Any amount would be very much appreciated!
